Mouse Guard

David Petersen, Mouse Guard

Mouse Guard:Fall 1152 and Mouse Guard Winter: 1152 are featured on this site. Mouse Guard, a cult favorite, is about a band of mice who strive to protect their secret world against predators-inside and out. Beautiful images and full-color drawings evoke the season and the drama of a Lord of the Rings-type setting.

Read the entire graphic novel adaptation of the 9/11 Report online at Slate.com. Described by the authors as "graphic jounalism", the graphic adaptation retains the original language of the 9/11 Comission's report, while illustrating more clearly the connections, reprecussions, and recommendations mired in the 500 page+ text report.

Which college is for you?

If you are a college resident, your parents have spent your lifetime supporting the California colleges. It's now your turn to get your money's worth. The California plan calls for three levels of institutions. The UCs are research institutions, meant to prepare students for graduate degrees. The CSUs are also four-year colleges and universities, but, with rare exceptions, do not offer doctoral degrees. And there are two-year, or community, colleges. These colleges have three basic purposes: vocational degrees, preparation for a four-year college, and enrichment. There are no bad choices! All of these offer fine teaching and vast opportunities.

Finally, if none of the above options appeal to you, there are fine private colleges in California, just be aware that they might come with a high price tag. Here is a site where you can find a list of these colleges and a link to each:
